Thank you for visiting St. Stephen's official website. We hope you find it interesting and informative.
St. Stephen's is a growing Christian community of traditionalists that believe in the preservation of the Church as given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. Our worship is taken from the Anglican Missal. We are devout Christians from different backgrounds (i.e. Episcopalian, Greek Orthodox, Baptist, Roman Catholic, etc.) that believe in adhering to the orthodoxy of the Anglican faith.
At St. Stephen's our greatest strength is our people. Our parishioners are of many ages and from all walks of life. We strive to be an active Christian presence within our community. It is the goal of the clergy at and laity St. Stephen's to witness for our Lord Jesus Christ at every possible opportunity and share His love and joy with others.
The name of our church is taken from a Greek-speaking Jew called Stephen who was one of the seven chosen to be an assistant, or 'deacon' (Greek diakonos: 'servant') to help in the distribution of alms and food to the widows of the first Hellenistic Christians in Jerusalem as described in the Book of Acts. He was arraigned before the high priest on a false charge of blasphemy, and he so infuriated his judges with his lengthy and passionate defence of his faith in Christ that he was condemned to be stoned to death. Present at his execution was 'a young man named Saul' who would later become the apostle Paul.
Early calendars and sermons of Gregory of Nyssa (c.330-c.395) attest that because Stephen was regarded as the first Christian martyr, he was commemorated on 26 December, the day following the Western feast of the Nativity of Christ.
A WONDERFUL MOMENT IN TIME THAT WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER - On Tuesday, April 4th, 2006, St. Stephen's Anglican Catholic Church paid off their mortgage and became the proud owners of their own Church facility. The transaction was completed at 11:30 a.m., Central Time making it official. Praise be to God, the credit and honor are His. After many years of hard work and dedication, the building now belongs to the people of St. Stephen's, to dedicate fully to the glory of God. We now hope to be able to expand to meet the neets of our parish, with everything done in the fulness of time as God wills it. These are very exciting times for us, and we would like to share them with you as we move forward with the Lord's work.
